Founded in 1984 as a program of the Aish HaTorah College of Jewish
Studies, the Jerusalem Fellowships is a dynamic
field-study experience for young people aged 19-29. (A second program,
The Jerusalem Fellowships Internship for Leaders
designed exclusively for undergraduates in their Freshmen through Junior
years was recently inaugaurated). Over 1400 students and young
professionals have taken advantage of this opportunity to engage in
Jewish study, and to examine Israeli cultural and political life in a
meaningful way while living in the heart of Jerusalem.
The Jerusalem Fellowships was established
under the guidance of an advisory committee of American, Canadian, and
Israeli communal and government leaders. Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan
of New York and Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania have served with
distinction as Honorary Chairmen.
Each year, hand-picked groups of young
adults gain valuable insights into the vital issues confronting the
Jewish people. Along with touring the country, participants are taught
by Rabbis and Jewish educators with a dynamic and insightful Torah
perspective, as well as Knesset members, Cabinet Ministers, scholars,
Middle east analysts, and journalists.
